A private development office, built through practice.
MKLC sits at the centre of an integrated, related business ecosystem. We have grown through delivery — not through brochure — across twelve years of land, construction and manufacturing.

I came to property the long way around. I started on the tools as a trade-qualified boilermaker, learning how things get built from the ground up before moving into business and, over time, development, construction and manufacturing.
I started my first business in 2009, and most things since have followed a similar way of thinking. I tend to start with the end in mind.
What's the problem we're trying to solve?
What does a successful outcome look like?
And if that's where we want to end up, what needs to happen to get there?
That's shaped a lot of how I've approached opportunities — whether that's land development, construction, business structuring or partnerships.
Development itself evolved that way. We could see a problem — plenty of people could service a home loan, but couldn’t get past the deposit barrier to secure home ownership. The solution led us into land. Land led us into construction through Blackwood Building Company. Construction led us into manufacturing through Blackline. Each step came from solving for the next constraint.
That's generally how I think. Start with where you want to get to, identify what's in the way, then structure a path through it.
I've always been drawn to both opportunity and implementation — not just identifying what could work, but doing the work required to make it work.
Just as importantly, I've always believed the real value in building anything sits in the people who build it with you. The right people — their character, commitment and willingness to do what needs to be done — are often the difference between something working and something not. To me, that is a company's greatest asset. It shapes how I build teams, how I approach partnerships, and how I think about business generally.
Outside of work, I'm a husband and father, and family and values shape a lot of how I make decisions.
From trade floor to integrated group.
Each business in the group was added because it made the previous one sharper. The shape of the platform today reflects where the work actually led us.

Three businesses. One shared standard.
MKLC leads development strategy. BLKWD delivers the home. Blackline Structures supports the build with manufacturing capability. Each holds its own discipline; together, they support projects end to end.
The vertical capability gives landowners and partners an unusually complete delivery story — without blurring the decision-making lines between each business.
